Statistical Programming

Computers provide a valuable computational tool for solving mathematical and other problems. This course will impart understanding of a general purpose computer and control of its operations through programming. By learning recognized standard computer programming language(s), student will be able to:

• Appreciate the power of computers to perform long, complex, mathematical calculations
• Exploit the massive-compact storeage capacity, fast accurate processing and generate desiredly formatted reports from raw data.
• Create his own programmes to accomplish specific calculations and other computational tasks
• Translate mathematically formulated problem(s) into amenable computer programmes
• Effectively use the available software such as spreadsheets, graphic packages and scientific computing packages, e.g. SAS, SPSS and MATHLAB
