need of the course
in psychological
counseling was
increasingly
recognized due
to various problems
I the society
such as increasing
stresses, suicidal
rates among students,
examination stress,
educational and
career issues
and concerns,
marital discord
among other.
This will be
a ‘generic’ course
creating a professional
manpower of work
in the variety
of settings such
as health and
education.
The
major objectives
of the course
will be
(1)
to orient the
participants
on the skill
of psychological
counseling,
(2)
to acquaint about
the theories
and practices
of counseling,
(3)
to understand
causes and symptoms
of maladjustment,
(4)to
understand interpersonal
relations, gender
and issues related
to sexuality
and
(5)
application of
counseling in
specific groups.

Three months
Six hours every
week.
The
candidate shall
undertake two
cases studies
and undergo five
psychological
test for assessment.
