The College offers short-term add-on courses to supplement learning in art, culture, science and awareness building programmes.
Mathematical
Skills and Everyday
Life Problems
Coordinator: Dr Ruchika Batra
The
programme has
been designed
to develop mathematical
skills and show
the beauty and
importance of
mathematics in
the life of the
common man. The
course addresses
the needs of learning
mathematics for
individuals from
all walks of life,
and serves an
essential input
for the personality
development of
any individual.
To
learn the programme,
one needs basic
logic of human
nature and level
of mathematics
up to the secondary
level.
The
course is designed
with the following
aims and objectives:
-
To
enhance
mathematical,
in
particulars
numerical,
ability.
-
To
justify
that
learning
mathematics
is
a
joy
and
not
a
phobia.
-
To
enable
the
participants
to
solve
day-to-day
problems
using
mathematical
logic.
- To
show how
knowledge
of basic
mathematics
and essence
of fundamentals
of mathematics
serve keys
for the development
of rational
thinking.
- To
prove that
no part of
activity
of human
culture can
escape the
use of essentials
of mathematics.
Course
Content:
- Vedic
Mathematics
and
Ancient
Mathematicians
- Number
System

and Modelling
The
course will be
taught over 11-12
weeks, 3 hours
per week. The
contents will
be taught with
a focus on increasing
awareness of mathematical
developments going
on everyday (eg
discussion of
Einstein Theory
of relativity
going on now-a-days),
relevant to real
world problems.
Emphasis would
also be given
on visual interpretation
of the concepts
and work in math
lab would be an
essential ingredient
of the course.
The
course would be
conducted at the
premises of Ramjas
College after
