"Every student has to pursue a regular course of study with a specific choice of subjects."

School of Foreign and Indian Languages

The School of Foreign Languages was instituted in Ramjas College in 2004, in response to the perception that knowledge of a foreign language offered increased opportunities for both employment and education. Ramjas College wished to provide a centre for quality learning of foreign languages at afford able rates, primarily to its students and also others who may be interested in languages. In addition, it sought to provide students with exposure to the respective cultures through films, music, dance and cultural events organized by the related Embassies and cultural centres.

The School began in collaboration with the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies, University of Delhi, to offer Part-Time Certificate courses in French, German, Spanish and Italian. Within the space of a year it expanded to provide Part- time Diploma courses in these languages. In addition, Part-time Certificate courses were introduced in Arabic, Persian, Russian, Japanese and Korean. To cater especially to our foreign students, Indian languages were offered in collaboration with the Department of Urdu and Department of Modern Indian Languages, University of Delhi.
