Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy was established in the College in 1917. It has always held an esteemed place of distinction in the academic life of the College as well as the University.

The Library possesses some of the rarest books on Philosophy and allied discipline which had been carefully nurtured by generations of philosophers in the college; Professor N V Banerjee who taught in 1940s in the College later became the founder Professor and Head of the Department of Philosophy in the University of Delhi. The other legendary is Professor B N Kaul who has produced generations of eminent and distinguished citizens during his stay in the department in the college. The department plans to expand its wings by introducing instructions at the post-Graduate level also.
