Programme
The
BA Programme
comprises four
categories of
courses, viz
Discipline Courses,
Language Courses,
Foundation Courses
and Application
Courses.
A: Discipline
Courses: A student
is required
to take
6 discipline
courses
(3 in each
discipline).
Subjects
to be offered:
- History*
- Political
Science
- Philosophy
- Hindi
- Sanskrit
- Mathematics
- Economics
- English**
* In the year 2009-10, the History department will offer the following options to BA Programme 1st year students, i.e. Paper 1- History of India up to 8th century (English/Hindi); Paper 2- Cultures in the Indian subcontinent (English/Hindi). Students opting for history as a discipline course are required to select for any one of these above papers
** Offered only to students securing >=85% in English core or >=55% in English elective in class XII
B: Language
Courses:A student is required to take 4 language courses. Of these 2 courses are to be in English and 2 courses are to be in Hindi/Sanskrit/MIL. A student will study English language in I year and III year, and Hindi in the I year and II year. In case a student has not studied MIL in school, she/he can take any discipline course in lieu of MIL/Hindi/Sanskrit.
C: Foundation Courses: Foundation Courses: The College offers three foundation courses, one of which a student will study in the
II year along with a language, and discipline courses. They are as follows.

D: Application
Courses:
These are
courses
designed
to provide
practical
skills and
additional
competencies
to better
equip students
who go through
the BA Programme.
A student
shall study
one application
course in
the III
year along
with a language,
and discipline
courses.
College offers following courses
1. Mass Communication (Hindi Medium-to be taught by Hindi Department)
2. Indian Art (to be taught by Philosophy, History and Sanskrit Department)
3. Globalization (to be taught by the Political Science and Economics Department)
4. Fitness, Aerobics and Gym operations (to be taught by Department of Physical Education)
E: A Student who has studied Sanskrit in class XII and has secured 60% and above in the subject will be given
a 3% concession in the aggregate provided he/she takes up Sanskrit as a language/discipline course in the
BA(Programme).
F: There will be two different sections in the BA(Programme) on the basis of the medium of Instruction, i.e.
Hindi/English.
